Hamilton General Hospital
Founded in 1848, Hamilton General Hospital (HGH) was the first hospital in Hamilton. Along with providing general internal medicine care to its large community, it is home to a number of Hamilton Health Sciences’ key regional referral programs, including: burns, cardiac catheterization, cardiac surgery, electrophysiology, endovascular treatment, extracorporeal life support (ECMO), neurosurgery, stroke, trauma and vascular surgery. It is also home to programs that provide specialized care to our HNHBB residents: cardiology, neurology and spine. In addition to providing leading-edge care, HGH is strongly connected to its neighbourhood and supports outreach activities aimed at helping to enhance the quality of life in the surrounding community.

From Toronto
- Take Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) to Highway 403 West (to Hamilton).
- Exit the QEW at Main Street East. Follow Main Street eastbound to Victoria Avenue.
- Turn left on Victoria Avenue.
- The Hamilton General Hospital is located on Barton Street East, at the corner of Barton and Victoria. Parking can be accessed from Victoria Street.
From Niagara Region
- Take Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW, towards Hamilton).
- Exit the QEW at Nikola Tesla Boulevard (exit #90).
- Turn left onto Wellington Street North.
- Turn left onto Barton Street East.

- Take the Clairmount Access directly onto Victoria Avenue.

Juravinski Cancer Centre
Juravinski Cancer Centre (JCC) is a regional referral centre for central-west Ontario. With many patients coming from outside of Hamilton, the JCC collaborates with providers in the patient’s home community.
JCC is where cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation take place, as well groundbreaking cancer research. There are no overnight beds at the cancer centre. It is adjacent to Juravinski Hospital on Concession Street, with internal hallways linking the two.
How to Get Here
From St. Catharines
- Take the QEW to the Centennial Parkway/Red Hill Valley Parkway exit.
- Follow the sign for the Red Hill Valley Parkway exit.
- The parkway becomes the Lincoln Alexander Parkway. Exit onto Upper Gage.
- Turn right on Upper Gage and follow until you reach Concession Street.
- Turn left onto Concession Street.
- The JCC is on the right side of the street, a few blocks up.
From Cambridge
- Take Hwy 52 to Hwy 403.
- Take the Lincoln Alexander Parkway (LINC) exit and follow the LINC to Upper Wentworth Street.

Juravinski Hospital
The Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre (JHCC), located on the Hamilton escarpment, is home to one of the largest and most comprehensive Regional Cancer Programs in Ontario. A general medical/surgical hospital, it serves a population of more than 2.3 million people and offers a diverse set of patient care services including a comprehensive emergency department, medical and intensive care services, surgical oncology, complex malignant hematology, oncology, orthopedics, arthroplasty, rehabilitation and diagnostics. The JHCC is also a pioneer in life-saving adult stem cell transplant and cellular therapy where the first successful transplant from an unrelated donor in Canadian history took place. As of the country’s most advanced academic and research-intensive cancer centres, the hospital continues to grow and plans are under way to add a new patient care tower and advanced diagnostics.

McMaster Children's Hospital
McMaster Children’s Hospital (MCH) has been providing comprehensive care to children from across South-Central Ontario since 1988. Here, patients from infancy to 17 receive care through a family-centred approach that accounts for the child’s emotional, mental and physical well-being. The hospital is home to the fastest-growing kids-only emergency department in Ontario, Canada’s largest neonatal intensive care unit, and Ontario’s largest inpatient child and youth mental health unit. It offers a full range of programs and clinics with unique expertise in a number of areas including: children’s cancer, digestive diseases, orthopedics, neurosurgery and mental health.
McMaster University Medical Centre
McMaster University Medical Centre (MUMC) has a longstanding history of providing world-class healthcare to people within Hamilton and from across Ontario. In 1972 the centre opened in the Health Sciences Building, owned by McMaster University, where the university-hospital collaboration set the stage for a strong tradition of teaching future generations of healthcare providers.
The site is home to a range of adult specialty clinics and day surgery, as well as a nationally-recognized digestive diseases care and research program. Here, the Boris Clinic – the first of its kind in Canada – brings together several medical specialties under one roof to provide a one-stop-shop to patients with multiple health needs.
MUMC also hosts one of Ontario’s largest labour and delivery programs and shares its campus with McMaster Children’s Hospital (MCH), providing seamless care for newborns who require additional hospital care after birth.

- Take the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEQ) to Highway 403 West (to Hamilton).
- Exit Hwy 403 at Main Street West. At the top of the hill, turn left onto Main Street West.
- Continue along Main Street West for several blocks.

Regional Rehabilitation Centre
The Regional Rehabilitation Centre (RRC) provides specialized rehabilitative care to help people who are recovering from acquired brain injury, amputations, spinal cord injury, stroke, and hand and work-related injuries. The state-of-the-art facility provides both inpatient and outpatient services and clinics, a large prosthetics and orthotics department, a therapeutic pool and an outdoor therapeutic track. Situated next door to Hamilton General Hospital (HGH), patients at the RRC have easy access to acute medical and clinical services and resources.

Ron Joyce Children's Health Centre
The state-of-the-art Ron Joyce Children’s Health Centre (RJCHC), a site of McMaster Children’s Hospital (MCH), offers outpatient services focused on child rehabilitation and developmental, behavioural and mental health. Located in Hamilton’s downtown core, RJCHC serves families living in the community and throughout the region. Its prosthetics and orthotics program – the largest in the country –serves both children and adults across Canada. The building itself was purposefully constructed to provide a welcoming, nurturing space for patients, their families, and the community, and has received awards for its unique, environmentally-friendly design.

Satellite Health Facility
In 2020, Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) and St. Joseph’s Hospital Hamilton (SJHH) opened the Satellite Health Facility (SHF), a temporary facility in downtown Hamilton to increase local healthcare capacity in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Located at 150 King St. E. in Effort Square, the space allows HHS and SJHH teams to support patients who are waiting for alternate care arrangements in the community, while reserving in-hospital space for those with the most urgent medical needs. The SHF is staffed by interprofessional clinical teams as well as primary care physicians.

St. Peter's Hospital
Located in central Hamilton since 1890, St. Peter’s Hospital (SPH) provides complex continuing care across four inpatient programs: palliative care, restorative rehabilitation, complex medical and behavioral. Outpatient clinics for diseases related to aging and the GERAS Centre for Aging Research, affiliated with McMaster University, is based at St. Peter’s. Although the SPH patient population is primarily older adults, each of the four programs also serve adults of all ages.

- Take the exit on to Main St. E (Hwy. 8).

West End Clinic/Urgent Care Centre
PLEASE NOTE: The West End Urgent Care Centre is closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1
Staff and physicians at the UCC provide care for patients from 12 p.m. (noon) to 7 p.m., seven days a week. No appointments are required. Urgent care centres treat all ages: children and adults.
The Hamilton Health Sciences West End Clinic and Urgent Care Centre is a hub for various outpatient-based services.
The Urgent Care Centre is one of two in Hamilton and offers walk-in medical care for patients with urgent health concerns that can’t wait for a family doctor. It’s staffed by emergency room doctors and provides care for a range of issues including minor broken bones, respiratory illnesses, and minor infections. The West End Clinic is home to Hamilton Health Sciences’ preoperative clinic, which provides services to patients scheduled for surgery at Hamilton Health Sciences. It’s also home to our special immunology clinic, which provides specialized care to children and adults who are living with HIV.

West Lincoln Memorial Hospital
West Lincoln Memorial Hospital (WLMH) has been caring for West Niagara residents for over 70 years. As a community hospital, WLMH provides both inpatient services and outpatient services including emergency services, complex and palliative care, surgery and a maternal and newborn program. As a site of Hamilton Health Sciences, WLMH also serves as a point of access to one of the largest health systems in Canada for patients requiring more specialized care.
How to Get Here
- Take the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) to Bartlett Avenue (Grimsby) and head South away from Lake Ontario.
- Follow Bartlett Avenue until Main Street East (first stop light).
- Turn right onto Main Street East. Follow Main Street East for approximately one kilometer.
- WLMH is located on the right-hand side.
