HHS Accredited with Exemplary Standing
For the third consecutive time, Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) has been Accredited with Exemplary Standing by Accreditation Canada.
Being accredited signals to our patients and community that HHS is committed to strengthening our culture of safety and quality, operational excellence, our use of research evidence, and our pursuit to solve problems in transformational ways so that we can bring even more value to the people we serve.
During the accreditation process, we were assessed against 26 sets of standards, which incorporate 28 Required Organizational Practices. It should be noted that there were more standards and a pronounced focus on the engagement of patients and families in our improvement work this time. Even though the bar was higher, HHS met or exceeded all of the prescribed standards.
In their report, the surveyors highlighted: how welcomed they felt; everyone’s willingness to engage in conversations; our ability to leverage an enterprise approach to deliver care at multiple sites; the integration of academic and clinical expertise to deliver care; our skilled and engaged board members; our focus on population health and building partnerships; and our efforts to involve patients and family members.
This achievement could not have happened without the hard work of everyone at HHS. Thanks to our dedicated workforce, our organization is leading the way in the delivery of quality and safe care, and standing out as one of Canada’s premier teaching and research organizations.
