Medicine & Complex Care

About

Internal Medicine and Complex Care are two areas that care for patients with diverse medical conditions.

Internal Medicine focuses on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of adult diseases such as diabetes, stroke, heart failure, and more, that span the health spectrum. Specialists in this area are trained to understand a broad range of illnesses and work to put the puzzle together.

Complex Care is for patients with complex medical conditions due to an illness or disability. When you have been in the hospital and no longer need acute medical treatments, tests and procedures (and the care you need cannot be provided at home or in a long term care home), you may go to a Complex Care Unit.

Patients stay in a Complex Care Unit for a limited period of time. When you have met your goals or reached a natural stopping point, you will be discharged home or to a different place for care.
