The Rehabilitation Program serves the rehabilitation needs of adults and children from Hamilton and the surrounding areas.
The 100,000-square-foot Regional Rehabilitation Centre, which opened at the Hamilton General Hospital site in September 2009, has 91 inpatient beds and provides care to stroke, spinal cord injury, amputee, trauma, neurobehavioural and acquired brain injury patients.
This facility is tailored to meet the needs of all rehabilitation patients. The physical environment is fully accessible to wheelchair users and incorporates elements such as gardens and transition apartments for practicing daily living skills.
It accommodates all ambulatory and outreach services. There are a number of indoor and outdoor exercise and practice facilities, a therapeutic pool, and a full range of specialized consultative resources.
The centre is connected to the Hamilton General Hospital by a bridge to allow staff and patients to move about easily. Significant landscaping of external therapy spaces on each level of the building provides a pleasant, healing environment for our patients.
Referring a Patient
A referral from your family doctor’s office is sent to the appropriate program or physician’s office. A health card is required for every visit.
